Gibson Custom's Artist In Residence program extends far beyond the parochial word of guitar craft. One of its chief directives is to allow fine artists from all mediums to be inspired without boundaries. While the temptation to create on and with Gibson guitars is too much for many to resist, much of what has and will come from the program is artwork, regardless of the medium. The current collection of works on canvas by James A. Willis, tells the story of the first Artist In Residence's inspirations from the brand, it’s legacy and the environment surrounding a new phase of his life and career. From the skylines of Nashville to the study of the curves and colors of legendary guitars as seen from the light coming in through the "A.I.R" studios, James has found unending inspiration from which to ply his mainstay, impressionistic style of painting. Each piece in this growing collection is one of a kind and will not be reproduced, creating a significant milestone in the evolution of the Gibson Brand as well as in James's already accomplished career.
