In 1936, the legendary Kalamazoo factory introduced the "Advance Jumbo" (AJ) acoustic guitar. With a 16" lower bout (an inch wider than any other guitar on the market), a rounded or sloped shoulder dreadnought shape and a 25.5" scale length, the AJ was a powerful flat-top that was known as the "acoustic cannon." Gibson's Five Star Dealer Series continues as the acclaimed luthiers of Bozeman, Montana, pay tribute to a great pre-war "round shouldered" dreadnought with the J-45 Custom Mystic Rosewood. Introduced in 1942, the J-45 was an instant success, favored by country, folk and blues artists for its rich tone and bold voice. Original examples are highly-prized today and sell for upwards of $7,000 or more on today's vintage market—when you can find them. Now the J-45 Custom Mystic Rosewood makes the ...

A cousin to Gibson's legendary Hummingbird and Dove acoustic guitars, the Sparrow tweaks some common reference points, but offers plenty of new features to the artist or collector seeking a top-flight performance-ready flat-top with an original twist. Marrying the square-shouldered dreadnought popularized by the folk-boom Gibsons of the 1960s—its predecessor the Hummingbird, for one—with premium tonewoods and a longer scale length, the Sparrow presents no compromises in materials or craftsman...

A direct descendent of the legendary "King of the Flat-Tops," the J-185 could be dubbed the "Prince of the Flat-Tops" given its ability to deliver bold, rich tones in a slightly more compact package for a wide range of playing styles. Released in 1951 and discontinued in 1958, guitars in the first run of this model are some of the rarest Gibson acoustics ever produced. Now, as part of our exclusive Five Star Series, Gibson Acoustic introduces the 60th Anniversary J-185 Quilt Custom. This guit...

With roots stretching back to the 1930s, Gibson's Advanced Jumbo was the most powerful and best sounding flat-top ever built when it was released in 1936. Predecessor to the J-45 and the entire lineage of great "Round-Shoulder Dreadnoughts," this guitar remains a highly desirable instrument today, prized by players and collectors alike. To bring that same style, tone and topflight quality to a flat-top guitar suited to the performance needs of today's player, Gibson presents the Advanced Jumb...

Smaller in body but mammoth in tone, the L-00 is a true classic of acoustic guitars, with roots that stem back to Gibson's legendary pre-war flat-tops. Often favored by blues players, fingerstyle pickers and folk artists, these guitars are noted for their easy playability and decisively full sound. To bring the same style, tone and quality to a smaller-bodied flat-top suited to the performance needs of players today, Gibson presents the L-00 Pro.
