Executive Vice President Divisional Operations

Job Location: Nashville, TN


Gibson Brands, Inc., the world’s premier manufacturer of musical instruments and professional audio equipment, is seeking an Executive Vice President of Divisional Operations. The EVP will be located in Nashville and report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. This position will lead all Division business units and be responsible for partnering with the CEO, business unit General Managers and other key internal & external stakeholders to develop and execute strategies to deliver on short and long term financial and growth goals. The EVP must be the visionary thought leader for divisional operations and possess the ability to establish strategic direction, develop & flawlessly execute plans and inspire others to deliver desired results.

Primary Position Responsibilities
  • Partners with the CEO to develop divisional strategies to support both the long term vision and shorter term goals & objectives of the organization (maximizing market share, revenue growth, profitability growth and EBITA).
  • Provides day-to-day leadership, direction and management of Gibson’s Division business units and is responsible for all division’s performance and delivery of desired results.
  • Partners with key stakeholders including the Chief Marketing Officer and EVP Global Business Development on the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes.
  • Motivates and leads a high performance team of General Managers.
  • Oversees all manufacturing to insure that customer orders meet established goals in terms of quality, cost and delivery standards
  • Effectively partners with the CMO and other members of the Marketing team to insure divisional level benefits can be derived and linked to the execution of Marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Develops and implements a systematic process for tracking and reporting on division progress against established growth goals and objectives. Assess and reports on the progress made and swiftly takes action to correct underperforming areas.
  • Partners with the EVP Global Business Development to insure that they and their General Managers sustain active involvement with customers.
  • Partners with customers and internal stakeholders on the development of the product portfolio. Ensures a smooth and efficient transition from previous year product offerings to new model year product offerings.
  • Provides timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the company.
  • Develops processes to insure that best demonstrated practices are freely shared between the divisions.
  • Leads the Division short-term and long-range planning process and budget development process.
  • Champions continuous improvement initiatives and quality programs with the disciplined and rigorous use of various world class techniques and tools to achieve organizational effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors in business or marketing or related field required, MBA Strongly preferred
  • 10+ plus years of multi-division leadership at the executive level with multiple product lines is required
  • Proven track record of managing multiple divisions from an operational focus versus a portfolio focus
  • Has an entrepreneurial mindset and has successfully developed and delivered game changing initiatives which have resulted in “home runs” in terms of sales and profit growth
  • Challenges the status quo, proven track record of driving change and teaching & motivating individuals to develop & implement new ways of thinking and doing business
  • Genuine understanding of brands and their power in the marketplace
  • Experience with CPG or higher price point brands (luxury and/or lifestyle) in retail is required
  • Very results oriented and takes ownership of goals and objectives
  • Ability to identify and highlight issues early on and quickly develop and execute plans to address
  • Highly effective collaborator with internal as well as external resources
