Executive Vice President Strategy & Budgets

Job Location: Nashville, TN


Gibson Brands, Inc. (f/k/a Gibson Guitar Corp), the world’s premier manufacturer of musical instruments and professional audio equipment, is seeking an Executive Vice President Strategy & Budgets. The EVP will be located in Nashville and report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. This position will play a key leadership role with responsibility for strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting and analytical activities. A key aspect of the position will be to partner closely with the CEO and other members of the executive management team to drive business insight and companywide financial results, and to provide fact-based thought leadership on key strategic and financial decisions.

Primary Position Responsibilities:
  • Partners closely with the CEO and executive management team to develop long-term strategic plans, annual budgets and operational analysis and reporting
  • Directs development and execution of the long-term strategic planning process, budgeting, financial forecasts and analysis
  • Leads company-wide strategic planning, budget and target-setting processes, including weekly forecasts and key performance monitoring
  • Partners with the CEO and executive management team to maintain three-year long range plan that incorporates the financial impacts of Company strategies and initiatives
  • Partners with the Chief Financial Officer and members of the executive management team to evaluate the current financial performance of the company and identify specific areas in need of improvement
  • Partners with other senior leaders to develop processes that ensure appropriate prioritization and approvals for strategic initiatives
  • Defines objectives to gain market share and maximize profitability, and executes plans to make those objectives achievable
  • Partners with leaders across the organization to take advantage of the Gibson's core competencies, and to recognize when strategies under consideration do not align with those competencies and therefore represent undue risk
  • Provides analytical perspectives to important strategic decisions, including M&A activities
  • Oversees the development and delivery of management reporting, monitors key performance indicators and drives enterprise wide financial performance initiatives
  • Plays a leadership role in the ongoing development of business intelligence and budgeting tools
  • Provides support to month-end and quarter-end closing and external reporting processes
  • Drives weekly internal processes to maintain and improve quarterly financial outlook
  • Leads the development, monitoring and reporting of key operational metrics and driving processes to improve consistent productivity and efficiency improvements
  • Performs ad hoc financial analysis to support key business decisions

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors in finance or accounting, MBA Strongly preferred
  • 10+ plus years of finance related experience at the executive leadership level
  • Deep financial planning and analysis skills and experience are a must
  • Must have experience in utilizing best demonstrated practices, particularly around managing long-term and annual strategic planning processes
  • Possesses strong communication and collaboration skills, also must be a highly effective collaborator
  • Gets things accomplished without having direct reporting relationship authority
  • Possesses highly developed critical thinking skills and has the ability to interpret and summarize data from various sources to support senior management in achieving strategic and operation goals
  • Must be system savvy and fully grasp and embrace the power of data analytics, readily utilizes data from various sources to support decision making
  • Challenges the status quo, proven track record of driving change and teaching & motivating individuals to develop & implement new ways of thinking and doing business
  • Very results oriented and takes ownership of goals and objectives
  • Ability to identify and highlight issues early on and quickly develop and execute plans to address
