Director of Quality Assurance

Gibson Brands, Inc., the world’s premier musical instrument manufacturer and the home of such preeminent brands as Gibson, Epiphone, Baldwin and Wurlitzer, is looking for a Director of Quality Assurance to join the team at Gibson USA. This position will be based in Nashville, TN.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Quality Assurance will be responsible for managing, planning, coordinating, and directing quality control programs designed to ensure continuous production/service consistent with established standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the development and analysis of statistical data and specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy
  • Formulate and maintain quality control objectives, and coordinate them with production personnel in cooperation with other managers to maximize quality and reliability and to minimize costs
  • Support defining plant process capabilities, sampling plans, & protocols to transition product from R & D pilot trials to finished production
  • Support translation of product specifications to appropriate manufacturing documentation
  • Collaborate with R&D to determine product specifications and use to review finished products
  • Support Product Development and Manufacturing in making changes to existing products
  • Improve Product Quality by establishing key product / process attributes, sensory and quality metrics and report any discrepancies and recommend corrective actions
  • Assure compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures
  • Manage GMP training and development programs.
  • Manage the Quality Assurance/ Quality Control Department and supervise and train  
  • Quality Technicians
  • Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • B.S. in Science, Mathematics, or Engineering
  • Green or Black Belt Certification is a plus
  • Lean Six Sigma experience
  • Experience implementing QC processes & systems
  • Experience with Standard Operating Procedures
  • Ability to deal with the rigors of corporate oversight and daily measurement of progress
  • Tenacity and long-term commitment requiring constant self-criticism
  • Exceptional leadership traits
  • Good business sense
  • Experience with consumer products or retail is required.
