Product Manager

Gibson Brands, Inc. (f/k/a Gibson Guitar Corp), the world’s premier manufacturer of musical instruments and professional audio equipment, is seeking to hire six (6) Product Managers to be located in their Nashville headquarters.  The Product Manager position will report directly to the Executive Vice President of Product Planning and manage existing products as well as creating and integrating new products and product changes within their product line. 

Primary Position Responsibilities:
  • Manages in-life product performance: sales, margin, and churn, conducting extensive numerical analysis using company and customer data
  • Conducts margin analysis, industry/market research, and in-life performance measurement to determine product demand, positioning, viability, and profitability
  • Creates formal business cases and product descriptions and work as a facilitator between the various internal organizations to ensure product policy and processes are negotiated, documented, and executed accurately
  • Displays a high level of critical thinking in cross-functional process analysis and problem resolution for new and existing products
  • Project manages all product integration/launches/changes throughout implementation
  • Leads regularly scheduled meetings centered on system and operational requirements for product changes and new product development
  • Pre-empts potential problems and provides effective solutions in reaction to the application of concepts, techniques, knowledge, or processes developed to support the new product or product changes
  • Coordinates and builds strong working relations with various internal organizations including IT, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Product Development, & Operations
  • Leads the development, approval, training, and communication of new products/product changes and their associated customer, operational, system, & process impacts to the various internal organizations
  • Develops & conducts specialized training on new products launched and raise awareness & application of relevant subject matter

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful product management experience, preferably aligned to retail
  • At a minimum a Bachelor degree in business, marketing, or engineering; an MBA is preferred
  • Challenges the status quo, proven track record of driving change and teaching & motivating individuals to develop & implement new ways of thinking and doing business.
  • Very results oriented and takes ownership of goals and objectives
  • Highly effective collaborator with internal as well as external resources
  • Gets things accomplished without having direct reporting relationship authority
  • Fully grasps and embraces the power of data analytics and readily utilizes data from various sources to support decision making.  Possesses compelling numerical and analytical skills
  • Has a genuine understanding of brands and their power in the marketplace
