Job Location: Memphis, TN


Gibson Brands, Inc., the world’s premier musical instrument manufacturer and the home of such preeminent brands as Gibson, Epiphone, Baldwin and Wurlitzer, is looking for a Guitar Adjuster (product assembler 2) to join the Memphis Division. 


Repair percussion, stringed, reed, or wind instruments.


To perform the job successfully, the individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily.  Other duties, assignments and specific projects may be assigned at the discretion of management. 

  • Play instruments to evaluate their sound quality and to locate any defects.
  • Adjust string tensions to tune instruments, using hand tools and electronic tuning devices.
  • Disassemble instruments and parts for repair and adjustment.
  • Reassemble instruments following repair, using hand tools and power tools and glue, hair, yarn, resin, or clamps, and lubricate instruments as necessary.
  • Compare instrument pitches with tuning tool pitches in order to tune instruments.
  • String instruments, and adjust trusses and bridges of instruments to obtain specified string tensions and heights.
  • Repair or replace musical instrument parts and components, such as strings, bridges, felts, and keys, using hand and power tools.

This position requires knowledge of the basic set up of guitars and other guitar assembly techniques.  Position requires use of air, bench and hand tools. Candidate must be a capable guitar player and should know how the parts of the guitar are supposed to function.

  • Lifting of tools and equipment parts of up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for 8 to 10 hours per day.

Candidates must be able to pass drug screen as well as meet background check requirements.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 to 4 years relevant guitar playing experience.
  • Strong attention to detail skills


  • Customer and Personal Service – Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.  This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
