Plant Manager

Job Location: Memphis, TN


Gibson Brands, Inc., the world’s premier musical instrument manufacturer and the home of such preeminent brands as Gibson, Epiphone, Baldwin and Wurlitzer, is looking for a Plant Manager. This position is based in Memphis, TN, home of founders and pioneers of various American music genres, including Memphis soul, Memphis blues, gospel, rock n/roll, Buck, crunk and ‘sharecropper’ country music


The job of Plant Manager is to plan, direct, or coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.

  • Direct or coordinate production, processing, distribution, or marketing activities.
  • Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints
  • Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
  • Develop or implement production tracking or quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, or other operational reports, to detect production problems.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, or discharge staff or resolve personnel grievances
  • Set and monitor product standards, examining samples of raw products or directing testing during processing, to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality.
  • Prepare and maintain production reports or personnel records.
  • Coordinate or recommend procedures for facility or equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines.
  • Initiate or coordinate inventory or cost control programs.
  • Institute employee suggestion or involvement programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • 3-5 years of production management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering a plus
  • Must have experience with the following:
    o Manufacturing processes and production flow
    o Lean Manufacturing
    o ISO
    o Synchronous Manufacturing
    o Production planning and/or scheduling
    o High volume, high mix production schedule
  • Woodworking and guitar experience is a plus.
