Unique Right Hand "Plucked" Harmonics

Here’s a lesson that offers a true, and in my opinion, better way of playing harmonics with the right hand. It dispels the usual “classical” way that is taught for these right-hand harmonics, and gives us a position that is much closer, physically, to how we normally pick the guitar in the first place.

Interestingly enough, the other person I ever saw who used this right hand harmonic technique was the late, great bassist, Jaco Pastorius, who like me, plucked the string with his index finger, while the thumb created the actual harmonic directly ahead of the index finger. Give it a try, and you never know, this may become your new approach to right hand harmonic playing!—Arlen Roth
