In this lesson, Adam Stark teaches you how to play “Roxanne” by The Police. The song was written by front man and bass player, Sting. It was released in 1978, as a single off their album, Outlandos d’Amour. Sting had originally conceived the song as a bossa nova, although he credits The Police drummer, Stewart Copeland, for suggesting its final rhythmic form as a tango.
This was the song that helped get the band signed to A&M records. When the single was released, it reached #12 on the UK singles Chart, and peaked at #32 in the US Hot 100 chart. The song has gone on to be a staple for the band, appearing on all of their greatest hits albums, as well as being ranked #398 on Rolling Stones list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All time.

Adam plays a Gibson Custom ES-335 Block Inlay in the lesson.
