The Fire is Spreading

I'm intrigued. Dark Fire has so many tonal possibilities, its really starting to sink in just how much this thing is capable of doing. Not all of my own questions are answered yet. Just because I'm an insider doesn't mean I know everything about this thing yet, but granted, I've had more hands on time with Dark Fire than anyone reading this blog up until this point.

Now, conceptually, Dark Fire could really change everything when it comes to recording guitar for me. I've had an exchange in the forums with a likely Dark Fire buyer who does ambient music and that's really started me thinking. The possibility of using the array of pickup options, blending in an acoustic sound on top of that, while at the same time sending audio individually from each string to a different track on my recording DAW, and at the same time also triggering patches from my massive sample library and virtual instrument collections through a MIDI connection is really driving this Dark-Fire-Jones. Add to all of that the power of using Guitar Rig 3 with those tonal choices organic to Dark Fire and well, uh, its a little overwhelming to ponder.

The most common misconception out there is that Dark Fire is a modeling guitar. Its not. A modeling guitar uses modeling technology to reproduce the sounds of a variety of well-known vintage electric and acoustic guitars. Dark Fire doesn't do that. It uses real magnetic pickups, in a wide array of configurations and an onboard EQ system that let you get almost any guitar sound you want, but it doesn't model them.

But I digress.....

What audacious marvels of aural excitement can I conjure up with all of those possibilities running simultaneously with Dark Fire? I can only imagine at this point. Eleven more days until it hits the streets, but its likely some time after that before one becomes mine all mine. These first units are going to sell out faster than a Led Zeppelin reunion show. Until then, I can dream......
