Ross Wilson, who started his career in 1964 with garage punk outfit The Pink Finks at the tender age of 16, has entrenched himself in the Australian music scene as a singer, writer and producer of some of the country’s best-known and most-loved songs. In the ’70s, his catalogue helped Australian music become recognized in its own right. In one of the most prosperous times in Australian rock music history, Ross Wilson and Daddy Cool set the bar high, however Ross’ production on Skyhooks’ groundbreaking album Living in the 70’s pushed all expectations to a new level.

Bass player and keyboardist Lana ‘Kern’ Brantley has played with some of the biggest names in music, including Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige and Destiny’s Child. But there’s no bigger tour in pop music right now than Lady Gaga’s Monster’s Ball tour, which features Gaga’s chart-topping music and eye-popping visual effects. Benjamin Hazlett is a Los Angeles-based touring/session guitarist and producer. Beginning his career with the band Avion, Hazlett has worked and toured with artists including Meredith Brooks, Miranda Cosgrove (iCarly) and two-time Grammy winner Colbie Caillat. Since the fall of 2009, Hazlett has been touring with Latin pop superstar Paulina Rubio, playing in the U.S., Central and South America, the Caribbean and Spain.

The 2010 Latin Alternative Music Conference will take over New York City July 6-10, putting the spotlight on Latin rock, funk, hip-hop, punk, electronic and other genres. The conference will feature performances from bands like Los Angeles’ genre-combining Ozomatli and Spanish indie rockers Los Punsetes along with panel discussions about the future of digital media and Latin music in film and television.

Jet Rock Their Gibsons in Las Vegas

Jet recently headlined the Rock ’n Roll Wine event at Caesar’s Palace, rocking the columns of the world-famous luxury hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas strip. Many of the finest vineyards from across the U.S. and around the world were present for the show, during which the Australian rockers ripped through their high-energy hits, including the smash “Are You Gonna Be My Girl.”

Four-piece New Jersey band The Gaslight Anthem played their biggest U.K. headline show to date with a one-night stand at the legendary Brixton Academy in London. Fresh from supporting Pearl Jam in Hyde Park the day before, the band opened proceedings with their new albums namesake “American Slang.” Much of their set was made up of recent songs, including “Queen of Lower Chelsea,” “Stay Lucky” and “Bring It On.” The biggest cheers of the night came for their seminal hit “The 59 Sound.” They ended their set with a cover of The Who’s classic “Baba O’Riley,” which cemented their reputation as one of America’s greatest exports.

Colombia’s Don Tetto are one of the most promising South American acts today. In their homeland, the band landed a #1 hit in Radioactiva (Colombia’s #1 rock-based station) for 15 consecutive weeks while their debut release, Lo Que No Sabias, climbed to #1 in Tower Records’ top sellers. The album’s first video, “Ha Vuelto A Suceder,” reached #1 in MTV Centro. Gibson.com recently caught up with guitarists Diego Pulecio and Carlos Leongomez.
