The first Gibson City Blues Jam, in association with Stratstone of Mayfair Aston Martin and Gibson Custom, took place at Boisdale of Canary Wharf on Tuesday, November 1. Gibson City Blues Jam is a new monthly event that puts budding musicians up on stage in the capital’s most impressive and sought-after venues.
Over the course of the evening, dinner guests were given the opportunity to jam with the Gibson City Blues Jam house band, Pacifico Blues, using one of several Gibson Custom guitars. This launch event was aimed at the city’s high-profile CEOs and business executives who enjoy live music and those who harbor a passion to play an instrument but without the commitment it would require to join a band.
At the Gibson City Blues Jam guests become part of the house band, be it on guitar, bass, drums, keys or vocals. Pacifico Blues improvised, incorporating each guest participant’s style and musical ability. Gibson City Blues Jam celebrates the blues, rock ’n’ roll and, above all, a great night out. This inaugural event was sponsored by Stratstone of Mayfair Aston Martin, which generously donated a factory tour and a weekend’s use of one of its stunning Aston Martin sports cars to one of the Gibson City Blues Jam guest performers.
Pacifico Blues, led by ex-city banker Paul Pacifico, is a contemporary London blues outfit featuring musicians from the internationally renowned AllStars Collective – the session musicians who in their day jobs play with the world’s most celebrated music artists. Gibson City Blues Jam offers an incredible “money can’t buy experience,” for musicians to perform on stage with some of the music industry’s elite.
Another band of city slickers that took to the Boisdale stage during the event was Urban Society, fronted by Cesar Gueikian, UBS Investment Bank Managing Director and Global Co-Head. The four-piece band performed a set of classic blues-rock covers to entertain the 200 dinner guests.
Gibson Custom have been producing the ultimate hand-crafted electric guitars since the 1920s. Who hasn’t dreamed of owning a similar guitar played by the masters of their craft, legends such as Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Slash, Eric Clapton, Angus Young, Marc Bolan, Mick Jones, Joe Bonamassa and B.B. King (to name a few)? A selection of Gibson Custom guitars were available for purchase during the night.
Gibson Custom’s next event will take place in December. It will be announced at Facebook.com/GibsonCustom.
