The heavily modified SG Special that Zappa used on stage with his band The Mothers at the Roxy Theatre in Hollywood in 1973 is an iconic instrument among Zappa fans, and now Gibson USA has recreated that legendary SG in perfectly faithful detail to bring the Frank Zappa “Roxy” SG to anyone seeking an extremely versatile, and superbly playable modified-vintage SG Standard.

The new Gibson Min-ETune™ in action at the Gibson booth. The battery-powered Min-ETune™ mounts unobtrusively on the back of a guitar’s headstock, and is invisible from the front. You just choose from 12 popular tunings or six user-programmable custom tunings, push a button, and strum. Within seconds, the guitar is tuned. Min-ETune™-equipped guitars can also be tuned manually. Ambient noise levels don’t matter, Min-ETune™ senses string tension and is immune to loud bandmates!

Gibson is already rockin’ at Musikmesse.

Special guests Compressorhead, a fully robotic power trio, has been cranking up the metal while the Gibson booth has been a hive of activity as guests checked out the new Chris Cornell ES-335, and the Bill Kelliher Golden Axe Explorer.

Gibson has also been showcasing the new  Min-ETune™, a novel, compact “robot tuning” system that lets guitarists spend more time playing and less time tuning.
Signature Guitars and Artists.

Gibson Pro Audio has also been busy demonstrating a wide range of consumer electronics, including Onkyo, Cerwin-Vega!, KRK Systems, Stanton and the newest member of the Gibson family, TEAC. Two highlights are Stanton’s new line of improved-performance cartridges, and revolutionary updates to the SCS.4DJ controller.

Guests have also been checking out the updated Custom Shop reproductions, which are now built to the Custom Shop's 20th Anniversary Historic Specifications - including the use of genuine aniline dye - bringing the guitars closer than ever to the originals they're based on.

As always, the stars have been congregating at the Gibson booth including German singer/songwriter Finn Martin who seemed especially delighted with this SG.
