Les Paul Exhibit Opens

The Les Paul: The Wizard of Waukesha opened this weekend at the Waukesha County Museum Waukesha County Museum. The opening day was June 9, which would have been the guitar great’s 98th birthday.

(From left) Lou Pallo, John Colianni and Gary Mazzaroppi of the Les Paul Trio pay homage to the legendary Les Paul at a private tour of the Les Paul: The Wizard of Waukesha exhibit at the Waukesha County Museum. The Trio played with Les Paul at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York City, from 1996 to 2009.

Special guests helped celebrate the grand opening of the Les Paul: The Wizard of Waukesha exhibit by attending a VIP preview event on Saturday, June 8, at the Waukesha County Museum (WCM), where the exhibit is permanently on display. (From left) Exhibit advisory board members Erol Reyal, Brad Smith and Sam Llanas, formerly of the BoDeans, join Kirsten Lee Villegas, president and CEO of the WCM for a sneak peek of the most comprehensive Les Paul exhibit in the nation.

A Les Paul fan is inspired by one of several priceless artifacts and rare guitars on display at the grand opening of the Les Paul: The Wizard of Waukesha exhibit at the Waukesha County Museum (WCM), Sunday, June 9. Featured in the inventor and musician's hometown of Waukesha, Wis., the exhibit is the first and only permanent display at the WCM, marking its significance as the most comprehensive tribute to Les Paul in the country.
