03.10.2009

Gibson, the city of Miami and Miami-Dade County are proud to announce that renowned oil painter Amanda Dunbar, one of the most promising and talented young artists in the U.S., has been selected to participate in the Miami GuitarTown project.

Dunbar will be moving to Miami to paint her impressive 10-foot tall Gibson Guitar sculpture. She will paint her guitar March 11 - March 13 at the Miami Gibson Guitar Showroom, in the heart of the Design District.

Dunbar has been profiled on numerous TV shows including The Oprah Winfrey Show (twice) and has appeared in multiple magazines such as People, Southern Living and ARTnews. Her art can be found in many private and corporate collections around the world and her works continue to gain respect and momentum in the art world. At 21, Amanda Dunbar was named a State Artist of Texas. At 23 she became the youngest inductee and the only painter in history to be inducted into the Governor’s Texas Women’s Hall of Fame in the arts category.

Once finished, Dunbar’s sculpture will be part of the Miami GuitarTown’s exceptional display of 10-foot Gibson guitar sculptures and a series of showcase regular size Epiphone guitars artistically designed and painted by local and nationally acclaimed visual artists and placed throughout Miami in front of city landmarks, sponsor locations and other popular destinations. All proceeds will benefit three local charities: The Miami Music & Art Fund, Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation and The Art and Culture Center of Hollywood.
