Rascal Flatts' Joe Don Rooney recently hosted a Dark Fire demonstration at the Nashville Hard Rock Café. The event launched Gibson’s newest limited edition guitar. Rooney demonstrated the revolutionary technological abilities of the Dark Fire and answered questions from Music Row VIPs and media.
Winking at his beautiful wife Tiffany Fallon, Rooney joked that the Dark Fire was his new girlfriend. On a more serious note, Rooney described the Dark Fire by saying, “Worlds have collided as the past meets the present in this design of this new guitar.”
New Dark Fire shipping date
The Dark Fire guitar will ship in limited quantities to select dealers with additional shipments later this month and early in 2009. Gibson’s retail partners did not acquire the anticipated limited number on Monday, Dec. 15, 2008. Due to the high demand for the remarkable new guitar and the process for installing the proprietary technology, production will be limited to only a select number of units per day. Gibson will produce Dark Fires throughout the year and will deliver them to participating dealers over the course of the next few weeks.

A note from the CEO
“Gibson takes great pride in providing our fans and consumers the best possible musical experience in the world," said Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar. "The Dark Fire is poised to change the guitar industry and because of that we have decided to produce the Gibson Dark Fire slowly and roll it out in a way that will meet consumer expectations that the Dark Fire guitar they purchase is perfect in every way. Although production of the guitar is slower than most guitars, it is important to take the time to deliver the most remarkable guitar of its time to the most remarkable guitar fans in the world only the way Gibson can.”
Dark Fire features
Embracing the spirit of innovation and technical advancement that inspired the original Gibson Digital Guitar in 2006 and the Robot Guitar in 2007, Gibson’s Dark Fire guitar is poised to change the industry forever.
The Dark Fire features Chameleon Tone Technology, two of the most popular pickups, redesigned power head tuners, computer hardware and software and even an internet community site.
The combination of tone technology and software puts a truckload of sound and thousands of dollars of capability in the hands of the player simply and easily.
The Dark Fire comes with a small box that acts as the high quality studio preamp and a full interface to a computer using a firewire port.
The guitar can automatically tune itself in multiple tune settings in less than one second.
Only 2,000 will be sold worldwide. Once the guitars are sold they will not be reproduced. The highly collectible guitar will be available in Dark Fire finish only.
