Seattle Pop-Punk Outfit Visqueen Rock Nashville
On Saturday night (May 29, 2010) the Seattle-based punk band Visqueen landed in Nashville and delivered a face-melting set of punked-up, energetic pop music at the renowned indie rock club The Basement.
Visqueen founder and frontwoman Rachel Flotard donned a ’59 Les Paul Reissue in stunning Iced Tea Burst throughout the entire sweat-soaked 60-minute set. Former Screaming Trees’ drummer Barrett Martin held it down with his signature tribal punk beats while Cristina Bautista delivered flawless backing vocals and low-end on her Gibson Thunderbird IV (which we think might have been taller than her). Cellist Barb Hunter softened the edges with her delicate, yet forceful solos.
Visqueen performed the majority of songs off their latest record, Message To Garcia, to which Neko Case added backing vocals and critics have been raving about since its release in 2009.
