Compared to the various sexy features of the 2014 model year guitars, the larger strap button may seem to fall under the category “one of these things is not like the others.” Granted, it doesn’t create better tone, it’s not some cool new finish, and it doesn’t make your guitar more playable.
This modest improvement has the potential to be the single most important feature of the 2014 model year guitars.
It also the potential to be the absolutely most important new feature if it prevents your guitar from crashing to the ground and suffering severe, or even fatal, damage. The new strap button is the largest size possible that still lets you use a conventional strap slot, and its oversized end makes it much harder for the strap to slide off—even if you’re a really physical player who likes to swing your guitar around.
Sometimes it’s the little things that count…and this one little thing could definitely count for a lot.
