Justin Timberlake has revealed that he recently got together with Marcus Mumford in the studio, and the two put together some jams that will be featured Timberlake’s new film, Inside Llewyn Davis.

It doesn’t get more legendary than Aerosmith’s anthem “Dream On.” The song is a classic, and now, it may be honored in the group’s home of Massachusetts. South Coast Today is reporting that two Democrat representatives, Josh Cutler and James Cantwell, have introduced a bill into the Massachusetts legislature to make “Dream On” the Bay State’s official rock song.

Rolling Stone reports that Iggy Pop and the Stooges are gearing up for the release of Ready to Die, their first album since 2007. Ready to Die will be the first album to feature guitarist James Williamson and drummer Scott Asheton since the band's classic Raw Power album from 1973. The new album will feature bassist Mike Watt, who took over after original guitarist and later bassist Ron Asheton passed away in 2009.

Foo Fighter Dave Grohl has explained to Fuse how he came to direct the video for Soundgarden's song “By Crooked Steps” (via Classic Rock): “I was on vacation and they sent me their new record. I was such a huge fan, way before I moved to Seattle. The third song is called ‘By Crooked Steps’ and it’s such an awesome Soundgarden song. Instantly recognizable.”

In the second installment of their Orion Festival, Metallica have yet again booked an eclectic assortment of bands. It's not just a metal festival as one might expect. Aside from Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers have been booked as co-headliners. Other acts appearing on the bill include acts as diverse as the DJ Bassnectar, Dropkick Murphys, and indie rockers Japandroids. Said Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich to Rolling Stone: "Our idea was to bring North America the kind of festival experience you get in Europe, which is all about diversity and new experiences."
