The Lollapalooza Festival has unveiled the lineup for this year’s version of the long-running music fest. Staged at Chicago’s Grant Park, the event runs from July 31 through August 2. Headlining on opening night will be Paul McCartney, with Gary Clark Jr and Alabama Shakes among the other artists scheduled to perform that day. Metallica takes the headlining slot on Saturday, August 1, with Sam Smith and Tyler the Creator among the others appearing that day.

Epiphone Models Score Big in “Best Budget Electric Guitars” List

Several Epiphone models made Total Guitar’s recent Top 25 list of the “best budget electric guitars in the world.” Cited on the list were Epiphone’s version the SG400, the Epiphone Les Paul Special II, the Epiphone ES-339 and the Epiphone ES-335 Dot. Total Guitar’s praise for the Les Paul Special II was typical: “The Special II is the sort of guitar that garage band dreams are made of. Quite apart from being mind-bendingly affordable, it's a massive sounding guitar that retains everything that is rock-worthy about a Les Paul but shedding any shiny extras.”
