Dweezil Zappa Returns to the Studio

It’s been a long time between albums for Dweezil Zappa - ten years, in fact - but he’s hitting the studio with engineer and co-producer Joe Baressi (Queens of the Stone Age, Tool) to begin work on a new album featuring his Zappa Plays Zappa band members Scheila Gonzales, Kurt Morgan, Ryan Brown, Ben Thomas and Chris Norton.

Now that he’s completed work on the Led Zeppelin deluxe reissues, Jimmy Page says he’s preparing to hit the road in 2015. Speaking to the Toronto Sun, the veteran rocker said he’s already begun the process of bringing his guitar chops up to speed. “If you asked me a year ago, I wasn’t playing the guitar so much as I ought to,” he said, “because I was spending so much time listening and completing the projects we’re on now. But I am playing the guitar … because I am starting to get myself ready for the idea of doing something next year. In the same way that I approached the O2 [show], you get yourself up to speed….”
