The TASCAM Hi-Res Editor is a new audio editor and player for hi-resolution files, supporting up to 384kHz/32-bit or 11.2MHz DSD audio. The software allows playback and export of DSD files without converting to PCM audio. DSD Audio can be played through USB devices that support it, such as the TEAC UD-501 and HA-P90SD.

The most interesting guitarists on today’s scene are those in the progressive metal genre, says Joe Satriani. Speaking to M Music & Musicians, the veteran six-stringer observed, “In the world of progressive hardcore, there are musicians—like Animals as Leaders, Periphery and Meshuggah—who are using the guitar like no one’s ever used it before, hands down. It’s totally new. You have to give those guys credit for blazing this new trail.”
