Fleetwood Mac and the Black Keys are among the major acts slated to appear at this year’s New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Other artists scheduled to appear include Billy Joel, the Dave Matthews Band, Maroon 5, John Mayer and hundreds of others. The annual event, now in its 44th year, will take place at the New Orleans Fair Ground on April 26-28, and on May 2-5. The performance by Fleetwood Mac will mark the classic rock icons’ first appearance at the event, according to New Orleans’ Times-Picayune. The band rarely performs festival shows, but Jazz Fest producer/director Quint Davis said Fleetwood Mac’s co-managers are fans of the festival and encouraged the group to participate. “We have very good relationships with [Mac co-managers] Irving Azoff and Howard Kaufman,” Davis said. "Both of them have first-hand knowledge [of Jazz Fest]. But the festival sells itself. If you know it, you want to be part of it."
