Gibson Introduce Southern Rock Tribute 1959 Les Paul
Starting today (May 20) you can Get your hands on a real beauty — the Southern Rock Tribute 1959 Les Paul. The guitar has been developed by Gibson Custom as a tribute to the musicians that helped make the guitar popular in the Sixties and Seventies.
The guitar features a "Reverseburst" finish, with a heart-shaped design at the center of the guitar's body. The neck has a rounded '59 profile, and comes equipped with PAF-style Custom Bucker pickups. "There's nothing like a Les Paul into a solid amp," said Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Rickey Medlocke (via The Tennessean) during the launch party in Nashville last night. The switch cavity on the back of the guitar is adorned with a metal "Southern Rock Tribute" cover.
The first 50 guitars will be signed by Medlocke and his Skynyrd guitar legend colleague Gary Rossington, as well as Dickey Betts, Charlie Daniels, Jimmy Hall, and vintage guitar expert Ronny Proler. Part of the proceeds from each guitar will be donated to the Music Health Alliance, which help provide health care for musicians.
