Kings of Leon have issued the first single from their forthcoming new album, Mechanical Bull. Titled “Supersoaker,” the single features chiming guitars, pounding rhythms and serrated vocals from singer Caleb Followill.
The band plans to perform the song next Monday (July 22) on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
Earlier this year, bassist Jared Followill said Mechanical Bull harks back to the band’s early work. “I thought we were going to make a really mature album, but I’m amazed how youthful it sounds,” he explained. “It’s like a mix of Youth & Young Manhood and Because of the Times.” Currently Kings of Leon are on tour in the U.K. On July 23, they will perform along with Jackson Browne and the Flaming Lips at the “Rock for Oklahoma” benefit in Oklahoma City. Mechanical Bull will be released on September 24.
