Ozzy Osbourne was honored Monday night at the 10th annual MusiCares MAP Fund benefit concert in Los Angeles, where several of the singer’s peers gathered in celebration of his sobriety. As reported by Rolling Stone, Metallica, Beth Hart, Keb Mo and Osbourne himself performed at the event, with Metallica delivering an exceptionally remarkable four-song acoustic set. The metal rockers scaled things back for covers of Rare Earth’s “I Just Want to Celebrate,” Deep Purple’s “When a Blind Man Cries” and The Beatles’ “In My Life,” before closing with Osbourne’s “Diary of a Madman.” “Music does care,” frontman James Hetfield told the crowd. “It saves my life daily. I’m grateful to music.”

Osbourne himself closed out the festivities with a five-song “greatest hits” set, but not before being feted by Joe Walsh, who has also overcome addiction issues. “It's really a battle to get sober,” Walsh told Billboard. “It's the hardest thing I've ever had to do, Ozzy is a real buddy and he has his set of demons, but he's stacked up some days of consecutive sobriety here and he's never been better.”
