Director Guillermo Del Toro has hired composer Ramin Djawadi to write the score for his upcoming sci-fi adventure Pacific Rim. Djawadi is known for his work with Iron Man and Game of Thrones. For the theme song, Djawadi has teamed up with guitar innovator Tom Morello to create a guitar-heavy track. Morello, whose style of playing already invoke otherworldly sounds, is excited to join the project: "When they asked me to put some giant robot riffs and screaming underwater monster licks on the film score, I was all in," said the guitarist to Rolling Stone.
In related news, Bruce Springsteen revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone that while on tour in Australia with Tom Morello, who was filling in for E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt, the band spent a day in a studio, recording some ideas: "We've never had a recording session during a tour in our lives. We did a couple of things that I wanted to put down. So that was very exciting. And being with Tommy was exciting. The band – Steven, Nils, all those guys – continues to be a source of inspiration for me.”
