It looks like Foo Fighters are taking a big break, although the band has stopped short of using the dreaded words 'break-up' or even the slightly less alarming 'indefinite hiatus.'
At the Global Citizen festival in Central Park, New York on the weekend, Dave Grohl told the 60,000-strong crowd the band had no plans for the future. Whatsoever. ‘Without making a big deal out of it, we don't have any shows after this,’ Grohl said before performing “Learn To Fly.” ‘This is it, man. This is the show where we come out and we play as many songs as we can in a short period of time, because honestly, I don't know when we're gonna do it again… and this is the perfect place to do it.’
It doesn't sound all bleak though: before ending the set with “Everlong,” Grohl told the crowd, ‘I don't know when, but we'll see you again.’
Later in the evening, Grohl and The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach joined Neil Young and band for an epic take on “Rockin' in the Free World.”
