As we reported not too long ago, a massive collection of Les Paul’s guitars, gear and other memorabilia is hitting the auction block in June. And now, the entire catalog of items – including hundreds of one-of-a-kind guitars – has been posted online.
Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills has created a digital catalog that you can view here. The catalog is a 410-page tour through Les’s collection that is nothing short of mesmerizing and overwhelming. It’s a must-see for any guitar or music fan.
Included in the auction: Gibson prototypes, vintage guitars, autographed axes that were birthday gifts to Les Paul, and many instruments that Les modified himself – some of which were still in progress. Many of the instruments will be auctioned off with personal notes that Les wrote regarding his thoughts on specific elements of each guitar. Other items to be auctioned include Les’s recording gear, furniture from the home he shared with Mary Ford, his Inventors Hall of Fame medal and even a top hat given to him by Slash. Absolutely everything can be seen in the online catalog.
Plus, if you’re in Beverly Hills in late May and early June, you will be able to see the items in person. Julien’s will host a free public exhibition from May 29 through June 8. The live and online auction, presented by the Les Paul Foundation, will take place on June 8 and 9, commemorating what would have been Les Paul’s 97th birthday.
In the meantime, check out the catalog and geek out.
