Metallica have cut their rendition of Deep Purple's “When a Blind Man Cries,” one of ten tracks to be featured on the forthcoming Deep Purple tribute album, Re-Machined: A Tribute to Machine Head.”
The album is set to be packaged next month with the new issue of Classic Rock magazine, and will also be released as a standalone album on September 25. As the title implies, Re-Machined features a stellar lineup of artists performing tracks from Deep Purple’s classic 1971 disc, Machine Head.
Those participating in the project include Carlos Santana, Chickenfoot, Iron Maiden, Joe Bonamassa and Steve Vai.
The collection is being released in honor of Deep Purple’s Jon Lord, who died last month at age 71 after suffering a pulmonary embolism.
