We reported last week on Metallica having posted some curious artwork on their website. Four illustrations were published without explanation within a couple days of each another, and they appeared to be slowly revealing some text. Each day brought a few more letters, which got fans talking: was Metallica trying to reveal their album artwork or album title? Turns out it’s the latter of the two. On Saturday—also the occasion of their headlining performance at Bonnaroo?Metallica’s album title was shown in full: Death Magnetic.
Produced by Rick Rubin, the album is due out in September on Warner Brothers. It’s the first Metallica album since 2003’s St. Anger, which moved 1.76 million copies.
