Muse have started streaming their new album The 2nd Law on various websites since yesterday.
The album, which is the band's follow-up to The Resistance from 2009, is being offered as a stream on different websites in 25 countries. The practice of releasing new albums as online streams is becoming increasingly popular as record sales have dwindled in the past decade, forcing bands to focus more on touring and merchandising. Last week Green Day offered up their new album ¡Uno! as a live stream.
Muse are gearing up for a massive tour in support of The 2nd Law, having already played various promotional events. Singer and guitarist Matt Bellamy discussed some of the stage layout with Metro: "We have a symbolic upside-down pyramid suspended over us as we play. It will screen videos and images that relate to the songs. At some point, the pyramid will turn inside out and consume Dom’s drum kit. Then Dom becomes a ninja who starts battling with corrupt businessmen...I’m serious. That’s not a joke."
