Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds will release their 15th studio album, Push The Sky Away, on February 18.

Cave describes Push The Sky Away thusly: “If I were to use that threadbare metaphor of albums being like children, then 'Push The Sky Away' is the ghost-baby in the incubator and [guitarist] Warren [Ellis]'s loops are its tiny, trembling heart-beat.”

The album was recorded at La Fabrique, a recording studio set up in a 19th Century mansion in the south of France, and it was produced by Nick Launay. The band says it’s a contemporary setting of myths woven into details of life observed around Cave's seaside home. “These songs convey how on the Internet profoundly significant events, momentary fads and mystically-tinged absurdities sit side-by-side and question how we might recognize and assign weight to what’s genuinely important.”

It will be available in several formats: CD, vinyl, deluxe CD and DVD, and a special ‘Super Deluxe Box Set which includes CD and 180gm heavyweight vinyl versions of the album; DVD with specially creates visuals by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard; two exclusive 7” vinyls with non-album bonus tracks; a 120-page replica of Cave’s hand-written, hand-stamped and hand-glued notebooks; a numbered certificate of authenticity for the first 300 copies; and exclusive liner notes. Those who order the Super Deluxe Box Set will get a digital copy of the album on February 18, with the set due for delivery in April 2013.
