Rob Zombie will release Mondo Sex Head, an album of remixes by some of today’s top DJs, on August 7.
The album includes remixes by Korn’s Jonathan “JDevil” Davis, Photek, the Bloody Beetroots, Drumcorps and Ki:Theory.
It was curated and executive produced by Jason Bentley, music director at L.A.’s influential KCRW and electronic dance music expert. It was supervised by Richard Bishop, co-executive producer of the RE:GENERATION music project and documentary film. But the final say was Zombie’s: he hand-selected each track, road-testing many in his car while driving around L.A. “I like the idea of taking songs and reconfiguring them,” Zombie explains.
The album will be preceded by two separate digital-only EPs featuring tracks taken from Mondo Sex Head and exclusive bonus tracks. Mondo Sex Head will be released by Universal Music Enterprises (UMe).
Zombie is teaming up with fellow shock-rocker Marilyn Manson for the Twins of Evil tour of the U.S. and Europe, with Jonathan Davis coming along for the ride on select dates. The stage set will include animatronic robots, pyrotechnics and “fearsome film clips.”
“Finally! Why did the most obvious tour take so long to happen? Who knows? Who cares? It’s happening now,” Zombie says. “If good taste is the chief enemy of great art, then we should be able to fill the Louvre with this [expletive] tour. Be prepared for something wicked this way a-coming.”
