The mighty Slayer head up the second round of bands announced for Australia's Soundwave festival in early 2013, prompting fan speculation over whether a third announcement will round out an Antipodean outing for the Big Four of thrash.
Metallica and Anthrax were named in the first announcement, alongside Linkin Park, Periphery, Duff McKagen's Loaded, A Perfect Circle, The Offspring, Dragonforce, Stone Sour, Ghost, Fozzy and many more.
Nobody who is in-the-know is saying anything about a potential Australian Big Four - not even carefully concealed hints - so there's really nothing to go on at this point other than wishful thinking. But it's a nice thought! Soundwave is one of the biggest heavy music festivals in the world, with the 2012 edition featuring the likes of Slipknot, Black Label Society, Lamb of God, Machine Head, Trivium, Marilyn Manson, Limp Bizkit, Bush, Mastodon, Devin Townsend Project, Black Veil Brides and many, many more.
Other bands included in Soundwave 2013 announcement #2 include Cypress Hill, Billy Talent, Gallows, Bullet For My Valentine, Bring Me The Horizon, Mindless Self Indulgence, The Amity Affliction, Sick Of It All, The Blackout, Fucked Up, This Is Hell, The Early November, Cerebral Ballzy, Polar Bear Club, Sylosis, Blood On The Dance Floor, The Dear Hunter and Confession.
