Gibson's Original Acoustic Instruments division embellishes the concept of the most affordable hand-crafted mandolin to its line of A-style mandolins with the upgraded A-9 model.
The A-9 still features a tone bar braced spruce top and eastern hard maple back, sides and neck, but now also features an ivoroid bound top and pearl dot position markers on the fingerboard. Additionally, the upgraded A9 still sports the same Loar era neck width and flat fingerboard, nickel plated hardware, a Gibson script headstock inlay, and satin vintage brown finish. The hand-fitted dovetail neck joint, hand-tuned tone chamber and micro thin finish assure a rich, powerful sound that is characteristic of Gibson mandolins. The A body style is extremely comfortable to play and allows easy access up the neck.
