Body
Species
The body's top is made from solid Adirondack red spruce, a rare and exalted tonewood that was one of the prized ingredients in many great pre-War acoustic guitars. Its back and sides are made from solid eco-friendly English walnut, an exotic tonewood with a long, rich history, and one that is rarely seen in contemporary instruments.
Tonal Characteristics
The Jackson Browne Signature Model yields superb depth and complexity in the vein of the great pre-War Jumbos, with outstanding volume and projection that has inspired its description as
The Grand Piano of Acoustics
. The solid Adirondack red spruce top presents excellent clarity and complexity, while the English walnut back and sides contribute richness and dimension to the tone. These qualities make the Jackson Browne Signature Model particularly adept at fingerstyle playing, while it also excels at flatpicking and rhythm styles.
Design
The Jackson Browne Signature Model is designed in the image of the large-bodied, round-shouldered Gibson Jumbo models of the 1930s, but with a body depth increased to 4.55" at the neck block and 4.83" at the tail block. It has a 1930's style X-brace, with scalloped braces carved from Adirondack red spruce, just like the top itself.
Finish
Color
The Jackson Browne Signature Model is finished in classic vintage sunburst specifically chosen by Jackson.
Vintage Sunburst
Process
Gibson's acclaimed acoustic facility in Bozeman, Montana, hand finishes these guitars in nitrocellulose lacquer, which is kept to a low build-up and hand buffed to a high sheen. In addition to looking great and aging beautifully, this thin nitrocellulose finish avoids impeding of the guitar's resonance.
