Neck and Headstock

Neck Species
The neck of the Worn 1966 Wilshire is constructed from lightweight mahogany for improved strength and resonance. Neck Species
Tonal Characteristics
The solid mahogany neck, angled headstock, and rosewood fingerboard all contribute to the Worn 1966 Wilshire’s superior tonal complexity.
Neck Profile
The neck on the Worn 1966 Wilshires are carved to a historically accurate slim-taper profile, like Wilshires of the ’60s Neck Profile
Joint
Epiphone uses a glued-in, mortise-and-tenon joint to attached the Worn 1966 Wilshire’s body and neck at the 22nd fret for unparalleled upper-fret access. Once completed, this joint creates a bond with more strength than that of a single, un-glued piece of wood.

Headstock Angle
The Worn 1966 Wilshire headstock is carefully angled at 14 degrees. This subtle yet crucial element of the guitar’s design increases pressure on the strings and helps them stay in the nut slots. An increase in string pressure also means there is no loss of string vibration between the nut and the tuners, which equals better sustain.
Truss Rod
The traditional Epiphone truss rod, found in most all of our guitars, is highly responsive to the individual adjustments you’ll want to make to personalize and optimize string action and sustain. Truss Rod
Logo
The traditional, period-correct gold Epiphone logo is silkscreened across the center headstock face. Logo
Fingerboard and Nut

Fingerboard Species
The Worn 1966 Wilshire carries a rosewood fingerboard, the traditional fingerboard of the original Wilshires. Rosewood is both hardwearing and sonically superlative, adding sweetness and depth to the guitar’s overall sound.
Frets
The Worn 1966 Wilshire’s fingerboard carries 22 medium-jumbo frets, all immaculately dressed and polished, which contribute to the instrument’s big tone and easy, bend-friendly playing feel. Frets
Radius
Just like the original 1966 Wilshire, the guitar’s fingerboard has a 12” radius, which provides excellent playing ease and comfort, and avoids any dead spots or “choking out” of notes while bending strings.
Inlays
The Worn 1966 Wilshire’s fingerboard carries mother-of-pearl dot inlays. Inlays
Nut Width
The width of the nut on the Worn 1966 Wilshire is approximately 1 11/16”, the traditional nut width of great Epiphone electric guitars from the ’50s and ’60s. Nut Width
