The 84
Long recognized as a leading manufacturer of high-performance rock weaponry, Kramer has put guitars in the hands of the world’s top shredders for three decades. With a nod back to the golden age of high-octane rock guitar, Kramer introduces “The 84,” an homage to one of the most formative shred-monster axes of all time. Styled in the image of the original Kramer Baretta of 1984 with offset double-cutaway body and droopy “banana” headstock—the guitar played and endorsed for a time by Edward Van Halen—“The 84” captures all the power, playability and attitude of the original, with classic “bullseye” graphics to make it more attention-grabbing than ever. Loaded with a single high-output Seymour Duncan® JB™ humbucking pickup in the bridge position and a licensed Floyd Rose® “double-locking” vibrato unit, “The 84” is finished in your choice of solid red, black with red bullseye, or white with black bullseye, all with rockin’ black-plated hardware.

Underneath all the attitude, “The 84” has the right tonewoods to back it all up. Its body is crafted from solid maple, a legendary wood for use in electric guitars, known for its outstanding articulation and sustain. Its bolt-on neck is carved from hard maple with a glued-on maple fingerboard, and is built to the 25-1/2” scale length that many shredders prefer, which offers tight, thumping lows and shimmering harmonics. A fast, slim neck profile, 22 medium-jumbo frets and a 12-inch fingerboard radius combine to make “The 84” superbly playable. New for the 21st Century is truss rod access at the top of the neck, which we’ve added to save you the hassle of removing the neck to adjust it.

A single high-output Seymour Duncan® JB™ humbucking pickup in the bridge position primes “The 84” for no-nonsense performance. With a genuine Alnico V magnet for plenty of depth and sweetness, the JB™ is wound with 42 AWG enamel-coated copper wire like the original Gibson PAF humbuckers—but lots more of it, for a whopping DC resistance reading of over 16K ohms. The result gives you everything from scorching lead tones to massive crunch, but always with plenty of clarity and excellent note definition. To double your tonal possibilities, we’ve added a volume control with push-pull switching for series/parallel coil-tapping. The volume pot also hides a “treble-bleed” mod utilizing a .002 mF capacitor to retain shimmering highs as you wind down the control. For unbridled whammy action, just grab on tight to that Floyd Rose® licensed vibrato unit—partnered with a locking nut up top for outstanding tuning stability—and give it all you’ve got, for anything from evocative divebombs to gently warbling tremors. A set of premiums die-cast tuners with efficient 14:1 gear ratio and knurled steel control knobs complete the hardware package.
