Neck and Headstock

Neck Species
The neck of the Special II GT is constructed from solid maple, an extremely strong, dense wood with a long history as a tonewood used for electric guitar necks. Neck Species
Tonal Characteristics
The solid maple neck, angled headstock, and rosewood fingerboard all contribute to the Special-II GT’s superior tonal complexity.
Neck Profile
The neck on the Special II GTs is carved to the popular SlimTaper™ profile, preferred by countless guitarists for its speed and comfort. Neck Profile
Neck Joint
Epiphone uses a contoured, recessed bolt-on neck, so all 22 frets are easy to access. Neck Joint
Headstock Angle (Pitch)
Just like the original Epiphones of the ’60s, and many classic Gibson models, the Special-II GT headstock is carefully back-angled to increase string pressure in the nut for improved resonance and sustain. Headstock Angle (Pitch)
Truss Rod
The traditional Gibson/Epiphone truss rod, found in most all of our guitars, is highly responsive to the individual adjustments you’ll want to make to personalize and optimize string action and sustain. Truss Rod
Logo
The traditional Epiphone logo is inlaid in acrylic mother-of-pearl across the top of the headstock, with “Special” silkscreened in gold in the center of the face, and “GT” silkscreened in the truss-rod cover. Logo
Fingerboard and Nut

Fingerboard Species
The Special-II GT carries a rosewood fingerboard, the traditional fingerboard of several classic Epiphone and Gibson models. Rosewood is both hardwearing and sonically superlative, adding sweetness and depth to the guitar’s overall sound. Fingerboard Species
Frets
The Special II GT’s fingerboard carries 22 medium-jumbo frets, all immaculately dressed and polished, which contribute to the instrument’s big tone and easy, bend-friendly playing feel. Frets
Tonal Characteristics
Rosewood fingerboards are known for their rich, round tone.
Fingerboard Radius
The Special II GT has a 14” radius, which provides excellent playing ease and comfort, and avoids any dead spots or “choking out” of notes while bending strings.
Inlays
The Special II GT’s fingerboard carries pearloid parallelogram inlays.Inlays
