Finish
Color
The Custom Shop 50th Anniversary 1960 Les Paul Customs is finished in gloss Ebony, in the image of the original. Body Finish
Process
The Custom Shop 50th Anniversary 1960 Les Paul Custom is hand-finished in nitrocellulose in a process that closely replicates the finishing process applied to original Les Paul Customs. In the laborious fashion used by Gibson in the original years of the instrument’s production, Ebony is applied to the entire guitar, which is then finished in thin coats of nitrocellulose lacquer, and buffed to a high sheen. In addition to wearing well and aging beautifully, nitrocelloluse provides a thin, hard, breathable finish with doesn’t constrict the resonance of the guitar, and allows its full tonal splendor to shine through.
Surface Texture
Intended, as the original, to be a top-of-the-line instrument, the finish on the 50th Anniversary 1960 Les Paul Custom is buffed to a high gloss.
