Les Paul Studio '60s
Ever since its arrival on the scene in 1983, the Les Paul Studio model has been a firm favorite with guitarists looking for full-bore Les Paul tone and performance in a down-to-business package that is light on frills, heavy on swagger, and easy on the pocket.

The Gibson USA Les Paul Studio '60s takes this template and wraps it in high-performance electronics with a '60s-style SlimTaper™ neck profile for the optimum blend of speed and comfort. Not one element of construction or component quality is sacrificed, and all of the essential ingredients that have made the Les Paul Standard a legendary rock and blues favorite since the late 1950s are still here. Yet a handful of cosmetic simplifications—such as the omission of a pickguard and a lack of binding around the body top and fingerboard—help to bring the Les Paul Studio '60s in at a truly astounding price, while offering a streamlined look and feel that thousands of guitarists have loved, regardless. All this, and the Les Paul Studio '60s remains a truly stunning looker, too, in an all-over high-gloss Alpine White finish with black chrome hardware.

Like the most revered Les Paul Standards of all time, the Les Paul Studio '60s starts with the classic tonewood combination of a mahogany body with solid carved maple top. Together, these woods offer outstanding tonal depth and richness from the mahogany, with superb clarity and "snap" from the maple. The strategic placement of several tone chambers enhances resonance while also reducing the guitar's overall weight considerably. And even in this more affordable instrument from Gibson USA, the glued-in solid-mahogany neck is cut to the superior "quarter-sawn" grain orientation for superior strength and optimum resonance transfer between neck and body. The neck is carved to the authentic '60s-style SlimTaper™ profile that gives this model its name, and it's topped with an unexpected slice of true luxury: a select ebony fingerboard, a wood usually reserved for high-end and custom models. The guitar has a PLEK-cut Corian nut, and, to further maximize vibrational energy, Gibson includes its legendary Tune-o-matic bridge and stud-mounted wraparound tailpiece, arguably the most storied hardware combination in the history of the electric guitar.

All this craftsmanship would count for little without a good set of pickups to back it up, and Gibson USA has loaded a pair of doozies into the Les Paul Studio '60s. The 496R in the neck position and 500T in the bridge are both made with ceramic magnets for increased power without sacrificing clarity and definition. Between them, this pair offers a wide palette of tones, from unparalleled creamy sustain from the neck selection that retains searing cutting power, wailing lead tones and astounding sustain in the bridge position from the 500T, one of Gibson's two hottest pickups. Both are mounted in open-coil "double black" styling to maintain the guitar's black-and-white look, and their versatility is increased exponentially by a pair of push/pull switches in the guitar's twin volume pots, which split each pickup together or individually for a range of single-coil tones.

Add it all up, and the Les Paul Studio '60s offers outstanding performance and a stunning original look, all for an amazing price. Each guitar includes a Gibson hardshell case and owner's manual, and is covered by Gibson's Limited Lifetime Warranty and 24/7/365 Customer Service.
