Working for the Weekend
Trent Swartzentruber teaches you how to play “Working for the Weekend,” by Loverboy. This song was released in 1981 on the band’s sophomore album, Get Lucky. The song hit #29 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #2 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. It was used for the Saturday Night Live skit where Chris Farley and Patrick Swayze were auditioning to become Chippendale dancers.

The band hails from Calgary, Alberta Canada, and originally formed in 1979. Their first show was opening up for KISS at the Pacific Colosseum in Vancouver, B.C. They were signed to Columbia Records in Canada, and released a self-titled debut album that ended up going 6x platinum. Get Lucky ended up going 5x platinum in Canada, and 4x platinum in the US. They’ve released 6 more albums in addition to their first two.

Trent plays a Gibson Custom Les Paul R7 Goldtop in the lesson.
