Black Star Riders - the band featuring former Thin Lizzy members, released their first album All Hell Breaks Loose last year. After a successful tour, the band is now gearing up to record their sophomore effort. Joe Elliot of Def Leppard has been enlisted as the band's producer. Elliot has previously worked on the reissue of Thin Lizzy's Jailbreak in 2011, as well as producing Black Star Riders singer Ricky Warwick's first two solo albums. Another Def Leppard tie-in to the project is Ronan McHugh, who has worked with Def Leppard since their Songs From The Sparkle Lounge album in 2008.
Warwick spoke on the involvement of Elliot and McHugh in a statement from the band: “Joe Elliott's passion, enthusiasm for music, as a fan, artist and friend is unquestionable and Ronan McHugh is a phenomenal engineer. Personally having worked with these guys before, it was a no brainer when they said they would like to produce the new BSR album. We are confident that this will be a huge leap forward in the evolution of BSR.”
Aside from Warwick, Black Star Riders consists of drummer Jimmy DeGrasso, guitarists Scott Gorham and Damon Johnson and bassist Marco Mendoza. The album is currently scheduled to be released in the spring of 2015 on Nuclear Blast.
