Fozzy’s Rich Ward plays Gibson guitars for many reasons, but the catalyst to getting his first Gibson stemmed from some advice from an unlikely source: his girlfriend at the time.
“I remember I was dating girl in 1991 who said to me, ‘I don’t want to see you play anymore of these guitars you’re playing, because these guitars aren’t sexy,’” he told Gibson.com. So, what’s a guy to do? Step it up!
“She bought me my first Les Paul. I remember playing that Les Paul, and the first time I ever walked on stage and ever felt like a rock star was with that guitar,” he said. “I don’t look down at guys who play other guitars, but they’re not sexy instruments. Gibsons are sexy instruments. When I look at all of my favorite albums in history, they were recorded with a Les Paul or an Explorer— always a Gibson.”
Fozzy just wrapped up a stint on the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival, and they’re planning to tour through the end of 2013 on their current album, Skin and Bones. Check out our full interview with Ward here!
