Hendrix Apartment to Become Museum
The London apartment that Jimi Hendrix and his girlfriend Kathy Etchingham lived in from 1968 and onward will be turned in to a permanent Hendrix museum, according to Uncut.
Hendrix lived in the attic of the Georgian townhouse located at 23 Brook Street, for which he paid £30 (about $50) a week in rent.
The Heritage Lottery Fund is restoring the apartment to how it would have looked at the time when Hendrix lived there. The interior will include memorabilia and items from Hendrix’ life. In the mid 18th century, famous composer George Frideric Handel used to live next door at number 25 Brook Street. The Handel House Museum has had their offices in the Hendrix apartment for the past thirteen years.
