Judas Priest have announced that the title of their forthcoming album will be Redeemer of Souls. In addition, the metal veterans have made the title track available for streaming.
In a prepared statement, guitarist Glenn Tipton said the British hard rockers have gotten back to basics. “Sometimes in the past we may have come under fire for being too adventurous musically--so we have listened,” he said. “From start to finish, Redeemer of Souls is 18 songs of pure classic PRIEST metal.”
The new song is the first music the band has released since guitarist Richie Faulkner joined the group, in the wake of founding guitarist K.K. Downing’s departure in 2011. Speaking to Billboard.com last year, frontman Rob Halford described the new album as “hard” and “heavy.” “It's something we think our PRIEST fans will be thrilled with,” he said. “We know we have a reputation to maintain, and we know we have to deliver something really strong and solid.”
Redeemer of Souls will be released in North America on July 15. To listen to a stream of the title track, click here.
