Linkin Park has become the first rock band to garner more than one billion hits on YouTube, NME.com has reported.
The group achieved that milestone on their YouTube channel, LinkinParkTV, joining Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Rihanna as part of the rare “Billion Hits Club.”
The rock bands closest to Linkin Park in terms of YouTube hits are Red Hot Chili Peppers and Green Day, although both lag far behind. The Chili Peppers have scored 327 million hits, while Green Day boasts a total of 245 million. Linkin Park’s achievement comes on the heels of the release of their latest album, Living Things, which came out on June 25. Produced by Rick Rubin, the studio disc is the group’s fifth album and their first since 2010’s A Thousand Suns.
