Californian duo Mazzy Star will release their first new album in 17 years, Seasons of your Day, on September 24. It’s out via Rhymes Of An Hour Records, run by the band’s own David Roback and Hope Sandoval.

It’s only the duo’s fourth album in total since 1990, and follows 1996’s Among My Swan. Seasons of your Day also includes appearances by the late folk guitar icon Bert Jansch, who died in 2011, and My Bloody Valentine drummer Colm Ó Cíosóig. Recorded in Norway and California, it’s described as “music for lovers, music for broken hearts.”

Despite two Top 50 albums, Mazzy Star have always remained a cult act. They are perhaps best known for their hit “Fade into You.”

Here’s the new track from the album, “California.”
