Metallica are on a roll at the moment, with Metallica: Through The Never having the biggest opening for a concert film released to IMAX, earning $1.7 million. Fresh off the movie release, it seems like the metal giants have another surprise in store for their fans towards the end of the year.
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich recently spoke to radio station 107.7 the Bone (via Ultimate-Guitar), where he hinted at an upcoming major event: "There's a very interesting thing coming our way in December," Ulrich said. "Nobody knows that, so ... There's another frontier heading in Metallica's direction in December. Which, if anybody [from Metallica management] even knew that I just said what I just said, they would hunt me down and silence me. But there is another frontier coming in December, which we're very excited about."
While we still don’t know what the band is about to announce, one can assume that it does not pertain to a new Metallica album, since Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo has already said the band will be working on new music in 2014 in a recent interview with Classic Rock: “In 2014 it’ll be all about getting new music – without any interruptions, hopefully.”
